Arrival and month 1 (July 2007)

13 July 2007

I will write about our experiences so far and catch everyone up to speed.  We started our travel by flying and traveling over 24 hours.  We flew to Seattle then to Tokyo then to Korea.  All of our luggage arrived without incident.  We spent the first 5 days at the Dragon Hill Lodge in processing Yongsan.  Very boring and time wasted.  However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge.  It is a 4 star hotel on the Army base that soldiers stay at while they are in and out processing.

We finally found our apartment across the river in an area called Seocho and we are close enough to the subway stations that we can take them anywhere.  We did buy a car, a true Korean classic Hyundai.  We haven't named it yet.

Our apartment is 70 pyong (approximately 2500 sq ft).  We have 5 bedrooms and 3 baths.  The neighborhood is great too.  Lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance.  As you might imagine, we have lots of room and would love to fill it with visitors!!!!!!

Chaz arrived 2 days after all of our stuff got there so he arrived to half unpacked boxes all over the place.  It took a couple days to fully unpack, but we finally have and are relaxing.  We never realized how much kitchen stuff we have!!  Our living room is a little sparse so we are looking for bean bag chairs to improve the comfort.

We haven't quite seen all of Seoul yet.  But as we travel more, we'll write more!

We love and miss you all.  Please call anytime.  If we are sleeping or out, just leave a message.
